SGE: Fans believe Daichi Kamada's stay is the right decision

First Kevin Trapp, then Daichi Kamada: Eintracht's best players are highly prized by other clubs. However, after Filip Kostic, who left for Juventus a few weeks ago, those in charge at Frankfurt seem to be doing everything they can to avoid having to sell another of their key players. And so, according to Glasner, after SGE keeper Trapp, midfielder Daichi Kamada is also committed to the Hessians. FanQ therefore asked football fans in Germany whether the Japanese player's decision is the right one.

SGE Coach Glasner: „Daichi is staying with us“

Actually, the transfer of Frankfurt's Daichi Kamada to Benfica Lisbon seemed all but certain, with both parties even reportedly close to an agreement, according to Portuguese newspaper „Record“. However, during the turbulent victory against Werder Bremen, SGE officials announced that they expect the 26-year-old to stay with the Hessen-based club and possibly even extend his contract, which is due to expire in the summer of 2023.

„Before the match, I was relieved that Daichi Kamada has committed to us. Daichi is staying with us, Kevin is staying with us. It's a very important signal that we're keeping our key players,“ Eintracht coach Oliver Glasner clarified at the press conference after the match in Bremen. Even before the match, Markus Krösche, the SGE's sporting director, commented on „DAZN“: „Not the first personnel issue to be discussed. Before it was other players who were supposedly in agreement with various clubs. Daichi is an important player for us. He played a large part in our Europa League victory.“ Rather, they are interested in tying the attacking midfielder to Eintracht beyond the summer of 2023. „We are aiming to extend his contract,“ Krösche therefore continued.

His highly sought-after teammate Kevin Trapp, who recently turned down Manchester United, also tried to influence the 26-year-old. „I told Daichi that he isn't going to leave. We're playing in the Champions League, we want to improve in the league – we have to be careful not to sell every player,“ stressed the goalkeeper.

In five competitive games this season, the Japanese player has already scored four goals, making him the most potent goalscorer for Frankfurt so far this season. He also demonstrated his excellent form on the previous matchday in Bremen. In the 4-3 away win, he provided two assists. In light of statements from SGE officials regarding the offensive player's future, FanQ surveyed German football fans about whether the Japanese player's decision to stay at Eintracht was the right one. In doing so, over nine out of ten (91.59 %) of those participating in the survey hold the opinion that remaining with the Hessen club is the correct step for Kamada. Only 3.74 % would have rather advised him to move.
