SGE fans find Glasner's reaction to questions about Kostic understandable
After many weeks of speculation about his future, there is now likely clarity in the Kostic situation. The Eagles' Europa League hero is on the verge of a move to Juventus Turin. Yesterday, Wednesday, he was no longer part of the Europa League winners Eintracht Frankfurt's squad for the UEFA Super Cup match against the reigning Champions League winners Real Madrid. Even after the 6-1 opening defeat against Bayern Munich, coach Oliver Glasner reacted sarcastically to questions about the winger. FanQ has therefore asked German football fans whether they can understand the SGE coach's reaction.
€17 Million plus X: Eintracht likely to agree with ‚Juve‘
After tough negotiations, Eintracht's Sporting Director Markus Krösche and those responsible at Juventus Turin have, according to information from „Bild“, agreed on a base fee of 17 million euros plus possible bonus payments. An important point was likely the Serbian's contract duration. As his contract would have expired in 2023, it was probably the last opportunity for the Hessen-based club to generate a transfer fee for the 29-year-old.
Krösche travelled to Italy for the final negotiations last Monday. By this time, it was already clear that Kostic would not be travelling with the team to the Super Cup match against Real Madrid in Helsinki. „We have always said that if we receive an offer that is good for all parties, we will not stand in his way and are open to discussion. We are currently in promising talks with another club and a solution is emerging. Against this backdrop, and also at the request of the potential new club, we decided to play the match against Real Madrid without Filip,“ the Frankfurt sporting director is quoted as saying by „Sport Bild“.

Oliver Glasner, the Hessen manager, already responded with sarcasm last Friday after the 1-6 defeat against Bayern in the Bundesliga opening match to questions about the future of his winger. Speculation about a potential transfer of the Serbian to Serie A had been persistently doing the rounds for weeks. After Glasner took his protégé off the pitch against the record champions after the first half, the 47-year-old reacted irritably to journalists„ questions at the subsequent press conference. “I took him off so he's in top shape for the season opener in Italy,„ he replied to a question about substituting his star player who wanted to leave. “Filip joined training quite late and isn't at 100 percent of his physical fitness yet," he qualified his statement afterwards, but it was no longer very convincing that he would stay at Eintracht by this point.
In this context, FanQ surveyed football fans in Germany to see if they could understand Glasner's sarcastic reaction to questions and rumours about Filip Kostic. Over three-quarters (76.59 %) of the survey participants understood the Frankfurt coach's behaviour. Only 12.20 %considered his reaction to be over the top.
