Havertz as a centre-forward for the national team? Fans vote yes
Germany coach Hansi Flick could soon try to solve the German national team's centre-forward problem with the help of Chelsea star Kai Havertz. The 57-year-old has therefore been in contact with Thomas Tuchel, the coach of the Blues. “I spoke to Thomas Tuchel on the phone for a long time. He has been saying for some time that he sees Kai in this position and that he can fulfil it.“ FanQ then asked football fans in Germany whether the national team coach should use Kai Havertz up front in the future.
Havertz is mainly a centre-forward at Chelsea.
National coach Hansi Flick faces a problem at centre-forward for the German national team. With Wolfsburg's Lukas Nmecha and Chelsea professional Timo Werner, there are currently only two recognised centre-forwards in the DFB squad. However, as Flick has so far rarely relied on Nmecha and Timo Werner doesn't always have the best opportunities to use his qualities against deep-lying opponents, the 57-year-old might soon turn to Kai Havertz in the centre of attack. The 22-year-old can be deployed flexibly in attack, has often occupied various roles in central midfield or on the wings for the national team and has demonstrated his finishing qualities there: in 24 games for the DFB, the native of Aachen has scored eight goals and provided ten assists. Furthermore, against defensively oriented opponents, his 1.90m height makes him a good target, particularly for crosses, and his excellent technique allows him to hold his own even in tight spaces.

That is why the national team coach has recently been in contact with Chelsea coach Thomas Tuchel, who has often deployed Kai Havertz in the centre of attack this season. „I spoke to Thomas Tuchel on the phone for a long time. He has said for some time that he sees Kai in this position and that he can fulfil it.“ Across all competitions, the London club's coach has already deployed the trained attacking midfielder in the centre of attack 18 times this season. In total, Havertz has scored eight times for the Blues in this position and set up a further three goals. FanQ then asked football fans in Germany whether national coach Hansi Flick should put Kai Havertz in the centre of attack in future. A majority of 57.9% of respondents believe that Flick should use the 22-year-old in the centre of attack. 29.9% of respondents, on the other hand, disagree and still see the Chelsea professional in midfield or on the wings. In the World Cup qualifier against Armenia, Havertz was already on the pitch once for the German national team in the centre of attack. He even scored a goal in the 4:1 win for Germany. It remains to be seen whether Flick will put the young star right up front again in tomorrow's friendly against the Netherlands.
