Vast majority of fans believe Schlotterbeck will leave in the summer

Nico Schlotterbeck of SC Freiburg is one of the most sought-after Bundesliga players. The 22-year-old is reportedly on the wishlist of clubs including FC Bayern and Borussia Dortmund, but was not allowed to leave the club in the winter. However, Sporting Director Jochen Saier told ‘Sky‘ in an interview: „In the summer there is definitely a possibility.“ FanQ subsequently surveyed football fans in Germany on whether they believe the centre-back will move in the coming summer.

Schlotterbeck's contract with SC Freiburg runs until 2023

Only 22 years old, Nico Schlotterbeck from SC Freiburg is one of the most promising players in the Bundesliga. Although the 1.91m tall professional is not one of the fastest centre-backs in the league in terms of top speed (33.38km/h), he is very strong in tackles and, with his two goals so far this season, also very dangerous. He has been under contract with the Breisgau club since July 2017, first playing for the U19s and later for the SC second team. He finally joined the professional squad in the summer of 2019 and was loaned out to Union Berlin after a further year, where he impressed with his strong performances last season. In June last year, Schlotterbeck even became European champion with the U21 national team and then returned to Breisgau. Since the start of the current season, the 22-year-old has been a permanent fixture in the starting eleven at SC Freiburg and has maintained his positive form. Only 6.6% of respondents disagree and believe he will stay beyond the summer. In any case, he is still tied to SCF until 2023 and wants to concentrate on sporting matters for the time being. „I haven't had any talks with my family, my advisor or Freiburg yet. We want to finish the season and then we'll see what happens“. So it remains to be seen whether he will leave the sixth-placed team in the table in the summer.
