Ginter's move to FC Bayern? Fans have mixed opinions

Matthias Ginter, who will leave Borussia Mönchengladbach on a free transfer in the summer, is in high demand at many clubs internationally. According to “Gazetta dello Sport“, the 28-year-old has now rejected an offer from Inter Milan and is reportedly set to decide on a move to FC Bayern Munich. The record champions are still looking for a successor for Niklas Süle, who will move to BVB in the summer. FanQ subsequently surveyed football fans in Germany on whether they believe a transfer of Matthias Ginter to FC Bayern will actually take place.

Ginter turns down Inter Milan and apparently wants to join FC Bayern

International Matthias Ginter will leave Borussia Mönchengladbach in the summer after five years. The 28-year-old has long since announced that he will not be renewing his expiring contract and will be taking on a new sporting challenge. Since then, the centre-back has been courted by many international clubs and has recently been linked with Inter Milan in particular. However, according to the “Gazetta dello Sport“, talks about a possible employment relationship in Italy have failed, with Alessandro Bastoni, Stefan de Vrij and Milan Skriniar, the “Nerazzurri“ have three strong centre-backs at the club, behind whom Ginter would probably have to slot in. For this reason, the 1.91m tall defender is said to have decided in favour of a move to FC Bayern, who are still looking for Süle's successor in the summer. However, preferred candidate and ex-Borussian Andreas Christensen is still a topic of discussion in Munich and is also available on a free transfer in the summer. According to several reports, FC Barcelona have now beaten Munich to Chelsea FC in the battle for the Dane.

Matthias Ginter could now become a really interesting “Plan B“ for Julian Nagelsmann and FC Bayern. With 284 Bundesliga games under his belt, the 2014 world champion would certainly have enough experience to strengthen the central defence of Dayot Upamecano, Lucas Hernandez and Tanguy Nianzou, which has not yet made the best impression this season. FanQ has therefore asked football fans in Germany whether they believe Matthias Ginter will move to FC Bayern Munich. 45.2% of respondents believe that the centre-back will soon be playing for the record champions. On the other hand, 43.3% of respondents disagree and cannot imagine a transfer to Säbener Straße. It remains to be seen whether Ginter will really be in the Bayern squad soon. According to ‘Sport1‘, Gleison Bremer from Serie A club FC Torino is also rumoured to be a possible candidate in Munich. However, the 2020 Champions League winners would have to pay a transfer fee for the 24-year-old Brazilian compared to Matthias Ginter.
