Almost a third of fans believe Brazil will win the next World Cup title

The Brazilian national team coach Tité announced his squad for the World Cup in Qatar yesterday. Superstars like Neymar Jr. (Paris Saint-Germain) and Vinicius Junior (Real Madrid) are not in short supply for the multiple World Cup winners' squad. FanQ asked fans what they expect from the Seleção at the upcoming World Cup.

Nine attacking players in the squad

Ex-Bayern player Coutinho is missing the World Cup due to injury. Tité has decided against calling up Matheus Cunha (Atlético Madrid) and Roberto Firmino (FC Liverpool), who were still nominated in September, for the World Cup. Most players in his squad play for Real Madrid or Juventus Turin. Three players from the domestic Série A have also been nominated: goalkeeper Weverton of champions Palmeiras, São Paulo; central midfielder Éverton Ribeiro and striker Pedro of Flamengo, Rio de Janeiro. The surprise in Tité's decisions is considered to be 39-year-old Dani Alves of UNAM Pumas, Mexico City. With his 125 international caps for Brazil, he brings experience to the team.

The Seleҫao will battle it out in Group G with Switzerland, Cameroon and Serbia to win the group. If the Germans win their group, they could face the Brazilians in the quarter-finals at the earliest.

Tité has nominated nine forwards, focusing on an attacking line-up for Qatar. The attack alone has a market value of €597 million, featuring, among others, the third most valuable player in the world, Vinicius Junior. He alone is already worth €120 million. Furthermore, with Gabriel Jesus (Arsenal), Richarlison (Tottenham Hotspur), and Pedro (Flamengo Rio de Janeiro), goal threat is guaranteed in the Seleção's play. Tité justifies his World Cup squad decision by saying: „We prefer important players from midfield to attack, but nothing beats a balanced team.“ However, he also emphasises: „To win at a high level, you have to create opportunities and score goals.“
