Catering in the stadium and the league's digital offerings - RB Leipzig and Bayer Leverkusen consistently in top positions

The league comparison from the fans' perspective

Cologne. The FanQ voting platform asked over 10,000 football fans in the Bundesliga, and at least 200 per club, how they rate their favourite club in various categories. The final part of this large-scale project focuses on the catering services offered by Bundesliga clubs and the digital offerings of clubs in the German top flight.

The league comparison by FanQ enables a comparison of the clubs in the Bundesliga from the fans' perspective. In the final phase of the season (April 2024), fans were asked about their view of their favourite club in 24 different categories. The respective ratings of the clubs were combined to create a league comparison. The representativeness of the results was established at the level of each individual club using weighting factors. The survey and study thus provides a unique view of the Bundesliga's football clubs.

The last part of the publication of the league comparison deals on the one hand with the question of how the fans rate the snack and drinks offer and in particular the stadium beer of the first division clubs. On the other hand, the survey will also look at how fans respond to the website, the club app and the social media offerings of the clubs in Germany's top division. A complete overview of all 18 Bundesliga teams and their performance is attached to this article.

In terms of catering options, RB Leipzig is particularly impressive. The Saxons lead the league comparison in terms of both snacks (4.58 out of a possible 5 stars) and drinks (4.53 stars).

Champions League finalists Borussia Dortmund (4.39 stars) and unbeaten German champions Bayer 04 Leverkusen (4.36 stars) ranked second and third in terms of the snacks on offer, while VfB Stuttgart (3.93 stars), Werder Bremen (3.90 stars) and 1 FSV Mainz 05 (3.82 stars) were at the bottom of the table.

If we look at the drinks on offer, BVB and 1. FC Köln, who had to make the bitter journey to the second tier at the end of the season, are right behind the Red Bulls with 4.49 stars each. In turn, the worst scores were achieved by Bo Henriksen's team with 4.12 stars each, while TSG Hoffenheim (4.10 stars) took the red lantern.

A particularly relevant and often controversial category for many fans is the rating of the stadium beer. Here, the private brewery "Moritz Fliege", which works with VfL Bochum, leads the Bundesliga table with 4.73 stars. The "Gaffel Kölsch" of 1. FC Köln (4.58 stars) and the "Berliner Pilsener" of 1. FC Union Berling (4.45 stars) follow in second and third place. At the bottom of the table are two larger companies. Supporters rated the beer from VfL Wolfsburg's "Beck's" (3.98 stars) and "Bitburger" as the worst. The latter brewery supplies both TSG Hoffenheim and 1. FSV Mainz 05, with supporters of both teams awarding an average of 3.77 stars.

Another important category of services for supporters is the digital offerings of the Bundesliga clubs. Here, VfL Wolfsburg and TSG Hoffenheim perform worst in the categories of website (4.14 and 4.09 stars respectively) and club app (3.94 and 3.93 stars respectively). This puts the Wolves in second-last place in both categories, with VfL's own social media offering even bringing up the rear with a score of 4.07.

In the opinion of supporters, however, 1. FC Union Berlin has the best website (4.72 stars), followed by RB Leipzig (4.64 stars) and Bayer 04 Leverkusen (4.59 stars). 1. FC Heidenheim (4.09 stars) is ranked ahead of the team from the Autostadt and the Kraichgauer.

The club app category is led by the Werkself with an average of 4.60 stars, while Eintracht Frankfurt is in second place (4.54 stars) and the Rose team is also in a good third place (4.50 stars). The surprise team from Heidenheim is also in the relegation places with a total of 3.99 stars.

The relegated SV Darmstadt 98 and once again RB Leipzig have the most popular social media offerings among fans with 4.70 out of 5 stars each. SV Werder Bremen (4.34 stars) and Borussia Mönchengladbach (4.25 stars) as well as the aforementioned red lantern holder from Wolfsburg (4.07 stars) make up the bottom three.
